Why we choose to infuse our tallow instead of using essential oils

I want to take a moment to share why I’ve decided to no longer use essential oils in my tallow products. I know many of you love the tallow I’ve previously made with essential oils, and I truly appreciate your support. While essential oils are wonderful for aromatherapy, diffusing, and other uses when applied correctly, they can sometimes be too strong for certain skin types. Because everyone’s skin reacts differently, I can’t always predict who may have sensitivities. Additionally, finding the perfect balance in formulation—where the concentration is effective but not overpowering—can be challenging.

Through my research, I’ve found that oil infusions are a safer, more effective, and more affordable alternative. Instead of using essential oils, I slowly infuse dried herbs, flowers, and resins directly into the tallow at a low temperature to extract their full benefits. This is the same method I’ve used for years in my muscle rub, so it only makes sense to apply it to my tallow as well.

It’s important to note that oil infusions won’t have the same strong scent as essential oils, but the benefits remain. Tallow itself is already incredibly nutrient-dense, meaning it contains everything your skin needs on its own. While I do incorporate additional ingredients to enhance its properties, extend shelf life, and improve scent, at its core, tallow is still a natural fat—so a mild beefy aroma is expected. I render it only once to preserve as many nutrients as possible, as excessive heating can diminish its benefits.

This careful, thoughtful approach is what sets my tallow apart. Every product I create is intentionally crafted with high-quality ingredients and a focus on effectiveness. Thank you for your continued support!
